I started Black Butterfly Design in Late 2007, originally - my website was just to host webcomics that me and my friends had created. Then the idea of an online portfolio was suggested to me and thus - this website was created to host all of my digital doings...
Well... If you haven't already guessed, I'm Sam, I'm 19 (Born: April 2nd 1989) and a former college student where I studied A-Level Media Studies, Music and Information Technology and I'm currently studying Computer Games Design at the University of East London
I started out designing websites when i was 15, using very basic html coding and free hosting web domains to get a rough idea as to how to design more complicated websites. During this time, I was preparing to go into college to study Information Technology, which in the second year of the course introduced Web Design.
Sadly, I wasn't successful in achieving grades that I was satisfied with at the end of my first year of college (orignally I was studying: Information Technology, Music, English Literature and Psychology), so, rather than continuing with the grades I had received, I decided to retake the first year of college (by then, the web design unit had been removed from the syllabus of the second year of the course, which was a real pain)
Luckily, I was then able to get a hold of the software that the college used and then I started creating my own websites on decent, paid for domains.
They say things happen for a reason, and although in the beginning, repeating the year did feel like a bit of a bruse to my pride, in the long run, it was a wise idea because, since then, I've been exploring all sorts of different aspects of Computer Design, including work on a successful Media Studies Trailer - which has recently been completed and will be online soon for public viewing.
The Media Trailer Project (titled "Rayphor") received almost full marks (7 marks off) and has also gotten me a potential, one time job of Media Studies Teacher Training with my good friend Keira of BobGoblin Productions at another college in Brighton & Hove, England.
I now, also offer my web design services publicly, bearing in mind I am fully self taught in web design, image manipulation and editing, so no, I'm not a professional, but - if you want an idea of what I am capable of - have a look at the "Web Design" section of this website - everything that you will need to know will be on that page including other websites that I have created along with prices - and if you still have any questions - contact me via the "Contact" button.
